an early start on Christmas cards!

From the time I first saw "A Quilted Christmas" introduced on cricut.com I knew that I had to have it. My mother beat me to it but I am the first to use it :) I am love the images on this cartridge but I have to say it is a pain in the butt to work with... oh well the beautiful cuts are so worth it!

What I used:
  • Autumn Leaves 4x5.5 in white card and envelope
  • Various card-stock colors
  • Clear gem embellishments (snowflake middles)
  •  Celebrate It 360 Blue Ribbon
  • Cuttlebug Snowflakes Embossing Folder (background)
  • Cricut A Quilted Christmas (angel)

easel cards

Pinterest - aside from being full interesting finds, has not only brought me inspiration for card designs but recently I have been finding all kinds of different card styles. I recently tried my hand at what is called an easel card.

As it turns out, easel cards are quite easy to make. I have seen this style used for shape cards, off-set and front-facing (like what I have done below). I forgot to take step-by-step pictures but if you look around you can find instructions. Maybe next time I will do a tutorial.

What I used:
  • mixed card-stock
  • Clear gem embellishments (center of flowers behind butterfly)
  • Cricut Elegant Edges cartridge (raised ledge to hold card open)
  • Cricut Picturesque cartridge (butterfly)
  • Cricut Create-a-Critter cartridge (cupcake and cherry)
  • Cuttlebug 5x7 Polka Dots Embossing Folder (behind cupcake)

happy leap day!

A day like today only happens every four years... I think that should be celebrated with a paid day off!... too bad my employer doesn't feel the same way.

I have been seeing frog related things everywhere lately due to today being leap day. So what better day than today to show off the birthday card I made for my brother's frog-obsessed girlfriend.

What I used:
  • Autumn Leaves 5x7 in white card and envelope
  • Recollections Card Stock (purple and light blue on front of card)
  • Cricut Create-a-Critter cartridge for frog, lily pad, sun and cloud
  • Scrappy Moms Furry Friends "wishing you a HOPPY day"
  • Scrappy Moms Hooray for Birthdays "Happy Birthday to you!"
  • Cuttlebug Happy Birthday emboss folder
