Another Birthday Card and Big News!

My brother's girlfriend recently celebrated her birthday. This is the same person I made this card for last year. She loves frogs and I was not in love with the result of last year's card so this year I tried it again and am much happier with the result!

What I used:

  • Autumn Leaves 5x7 in white card and envelope
  • Various card-stock colors
  • Cricut Create-a-Critter cartridge (frog)
  • Scrappy Moms Hooray for Birthdays "May all your wishes come true!"
As for the big news, well I will be going overseas again for work and will not be returning until August! This of course is going to make it impossible to make all the summer time cards that I normally have on my list. This means that all birthdays and other celebrations that I normally would be busy crafting away with will not get done. I'm kind of bummed about it as I will be missing out on a lot of thing like my garden blooming and my cousin's wedding but on the plus side I will be celebrating my 26th birthday in the Philippines with my best friend! So that being said, I have one more post to get together for my Easter cards (almost a month later...) and then I'm off to the tropical island until August... if I don't get extended.

Happy St Patricks Day!

Well today is the day to wear green, eat corned beef and potatoes and drink green beer! May the luck of the irish be with you and you find many pots of gold! We are heading over to my in-laws for dinner and out with friends later this evening. I made these awesome cupcakes yesterday for the occasion.

They are Guiness Cupcakes with Bailey's Buttercream Frosting and the recipe can be found here!

Wish Big!

I have been on a Create a Critter craze lately! I just can't help it though the cuts are so cute and the layers are so easy to put together. This was a very last minute card I put together last night, I thought I had until the weekend but the birthday girl decided she wanted to go out for drinks last night instead. So I kept this one as clean and simple as possible, it only took me 15 minutes from start to finish!

What I used:

  • Autumn Leaves 5x7 in white card and envelope
  • various card-stock colors and scraps
  • Scrappy Moms Simple Sentiments "Wish BIG!"
  • Cricut Create a Critter  (hippo)
  • buttons

a "simple" valentine

By "simple" I mean plain, this card was not simple by any means (although it should have been). I used a textured paper that I loved when I found it but my cricut just would not co-operate. After changing all my blade settings, mat and eventually the actual blade, I was left with a big mess and ONE itty bitty little piece of vine that cut without any trouble. So my original plan changed quickly and my hubby got my least favorite card to date. This is the simplified version of the card I originally envisioned.

What I used:
  • Autumn Leaves 5x7 in white card and envelope
  • various card-stock colors
  • Momenta All Through the Year Paper Pad (exes and ohs)
  • Ditto red glitter glue (heart)
  • Scrappy Moms Love Notes "my Heart belongs to you"
  • Cricut Create a Critter 2 (monkey, vine and heart)
  • clear gel pen for hairline
  • EK Success corner rounder punch

my first gatefold card

I have been seeing a lot of gatefold cards lately and decided to try it out. It looked simple enough to me but once I scored and closed my card I found that there was a little bit of a gap... oops! Guess I should have measured a little better. I decided to leave it and just layered my image over the middle to cover up my oops. This is an outside/inside view of what I came up with:

What I used:
  • 5"w x 12" sturdy cardstock (blue base)
  • 2" 3/4w x 4" 3/4 patterned cardstock (layered panels on front of card)
  • 5" 1/2w x 4" 1/2 yellow cardstock (top layer inside)
  • 5" 3/4w x  4" 3/4 patterned cardstock (inside layer, under yellow)
  • left over scraps (for cricut cut outs and layers)
  • Celebrate It 360 Blue Ribbon
  • Cricut Elegant Edges Cartridge (pg 50, oblong with shift layer)
  • Cricut Suburbia Cartridge (pg 46, "Mary" with shift layer)

2012 Christmas card pt 3

This is the final post about Christmas cards this year! I am really happy with what I came up with this year and I am excited to hand them out!

For this card I used the snowman cut from Create a Critter 2 along with his scarf and mittens. I used red glitter glue on the scarf and added a little holly sticker to his hat. Again the ink didn't show up too well on the paper I used, this time I kept going anyways and had to cover it up or start my base over again. So I used George and Basic Shapes for the red and green shapes used to cover up the ink on the green paper and to add my sentiment. I found the "bakers twine" at Michael's, it's actually knitting yarn but worked just the same!

What I used:
  • Autumn Leaves 4x5.5 in white card and envelope
  • various card-stock colors
  • DCWV holiday stack (green paper)
  • Ditto red glitter glue
  • Scrappy Moms A Holiday to Remember "have a holly jolly holiday!"
  • Red Heart cotton yarn
  • Clear gem embellishments
  • Jolee's Boutique Dimensional Stickers Christmas Holly
  • Cricut Create a Critter 2 (snowman)
  • Cricut George and Basic Shapes (red and green shapes)
